Description:
The Uttarakhand State Council of Science and Technology (UCOST) has introduced a six-day mentor training program on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics in its STEM Jigyasa Kaksh initiative. The program aims to strengthen technology education in government schools across the state, especially in mountain and border districts.
The training program began on April 7, bringing together mentors from all 13 districts of Uttarakhand in both Garhwal and Kumaon divisions. The initiative was a major state-wide initiative to enhance pragmatic STEM education with trained school mentors. After completing the program, these mentors will return to their schools to lead hands-on classroom sessions on practical STEM activities.
The project is a part of the STEM Jigyasa Kaksh program of UCOST, with STEM labs already having been set up in 95 government schools in Uttarakhand with modern tools like AI & Robotics, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, 3D, AR, VR, & Drone. Around 40,000 students are already benefiting from the programme.
Under the vision of Hon’ble CM Pushkar Singh Dhami for practical, future‑ready education, UCOST Director General Prof. Durgesh Pant emphasized that the training centers on hands‑on learning, enabling mentors to work directly with AI & Robotics kits and confidently apply these tools in their schools
Trained mentors will connect advanced technology with real-world applications and students in underserved regions, helping young learners to tackle real-world problem-solving, innovate technology, and grasp emerging tech concepts from an early age.
The initiative reflects Uttarakhand’s commitment, through state government leadership, to promote equal access to STEM education and foster technical confidence among students in schools, irrespective of geographical constraints.
