Description:
In Uttarakhand's hill regions, education has always come with limitations. Distance, rugged terrain, and geographic isolation often dictate what a child gets to learn and what remains out of reach. For years, advanced subjects like artificial intelligence, robotics, and 3D printing were considered luxuries meant only for well-resourced urban schools.
That reality is now being rewritten.
Under PM Shri Narendra Modi's vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and the leadership of CM Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, & UCOST Director General Prof. Durgesh Pant has conceptualized the STEM Jigyasha Kaksh Initiative to transform education in Uttarakhand.
In Phase 1, the program establishes innovation corners across 95 schools in 13 districts, supported by expert trainers throughout the year. By integrating STEM concepts with artificial intelligence, robotics, drones, and 3D printing into school learning, it builds and strengthens human intelligence while securing youth futures. This initiative bridges theoretical learning with real-world applications, nurturing problem-solvers and innovators equipped with 21st-century skills.
Since the program’s launch, over 40000 students have gained hands-on exposure to emerging technologies for many, it’s a first-time encounter with tools shaping the fourth-largest global economy.
“The vision has always been simple, to make sure students, no matter how remote their schools are, get access to meaningful STEM education, ” said Sagar Sojitra, Founder & CEO, STEMbotix, in a recent statement “When given the right exposure and support, students everywhere show the same curiosity and potential."
What makes STEM Jigyasha Kaksh stand out is not just scale, but intent. It sends a clear message, that geography should not decide opportunity, and that even in the most challenging terrains, students deserve access to the education of the future. With trained educators, functional STEM Labs in 95 schools, and a replicable framework already operational, the initiative is positioned for expansion across Uttarakhand, potentially serving as a model for all states nationwide.
